Dear all...This site is dedicated to my best friends Rohaiyah & David Kinnear. I flew back to Singapore from LA to renew my US visa after a 6 month absence and was stunned to find David.... cheerful, active David...suddenly stricken into paralysis. Never have I been so floored! David and Rohaiyah were super healthy and always brimming with ideas for fun & adventure. This was the last piece of news that I could have ever expected....It made me halt from my frenetic schedule to really think about the brevity of the situation...I spent the next few days with the family during this intense time. But by no means was it seen as a tragedy...It was remarkable...Rohaiyah had started journaling her experiences. Together with a good friend Susan Phua, she would be publishing her story' Trust me when I say...Love Conquers All'. Her daughter Jihan had already completed a book titled 'A Walk in My Slippers'.It truly is amazing to watch Jihan's face Glow as she speaks of the Healing Centre she's been inspired to begin. With all the love, nurturing and positivity they've been showering on David for the past 4 months, Jihan has found that the area of healing and the power of energy work is one she is drawn to explore and develop within society. Roh let loose a bagful of stories on the drama of the past few months. All manner of new age folk, priests, monks, nuns, healers, even former miraculously healed patients, had graced their home through numerous channels. What really touched me was the dedication and care the entire family lavished on David.....No one expressed grief in front of him...They remained upbeat, positive, laughing and teasing him while relentlessly encouraging him to recovery. He must receive at least fifty kisses a day from what I've seen.Oh and I bet he's enjoying his new title 'The King' as well as the VIP service he commands from everyone... The Kinnear family has always been close to my heart (and to a great deal of others as well! Yes they are extremely social!). I decided to pay them tribute by building a simple website. One that would serve as platform for friends and family to keep track of David's progress while serving to spread this amazing story to others who would love to hear of this extraordinary family and their extraordinary tale.....

On the night of the 26th of January 2004, David and Roh Kinnear snuggled in bed, excitedly discussing delicious plans to travel the world, visiting friends & relatives in every continent.

David & Roh had always been an extremely playful and adventurous couple. They seemed to many like two kids, rascals in fact, who had magically found each other. With the confidence of a well-matched pair they were out to set the world ablaze with their lofty ambitions. They had friends and loved ones of all ages and were a joy to their large circle of friends. Parties, charity events, fund-raising masquerades, you name it, they'd organised it!
Everyone loved visiting them, gaining from their positivity and basking in the love in their home. David made a romantic promise that night; he would show his loving wife of 11 years his hometown in Scotland and open her eyes to true Scottish culture. They laughed and fantasised through the night until slumber took its toll...

At half past 5 that very morning, David woke up with frantic spasms. A half-asleep Roh teased him, asking him to stop his childish play. But his desperate lunging breaths soon signalled that this was no child's game.....

8 hours later, David had been medi-vaced out of Papua New Guinea to Cairns, Australia. Papua New Guinea's medical instituitions were ill-equipped to deal with or even diagnose his sudden, severe paralysis.

At the Cairns Private Hospital where he lay frozen. Trapped into silence and in motionless submission he received the heavy news. David Kinnear was diagnosed with extensive brain stem infract. In layman's terms, he had suffered the most extreme stroke in medical standards. The Doctor's said it was just a matter of time when the water in his body would start to enter his lungs and his heart would stop alongst with every organ in his body.

His only companion at the time, his wife Roh, was warned...death would be no stranger. And the only choice left was if she wanted him to be kept breathing on a life support system....

She stared numbly at the doctors refusing to leave. A confused, terrified Roh kept talking to David, asking him what went wrong. She felt quilty...almost responsible for what happened, although no one really knew how his condition was even triggered....

Read Rohaiyah's Journal for the full mind-blowing experience. As of May 18th, David has currently gained some movement in his head and neck. God willing, his condition will continue to improve, one step at a time...
