Gucci: 80s Designer Cravings Begin
Gucci has long been associated with luxury, opulence, and prestige. During the original 80s logomania, Gucci was on the tongues and minds of even those who knew little about fashion. Gucci and Louis Vuitton are the most-imitated logos, and also among the oldest. Shown here is an original vintage logo bag, a toned-down beige logo doctor's bag first introduced in the early 90s, and a 2002 Bohemian chic hobo-style bag.
Legendary Hermes
Hermes is the haute-est of haute couture houses. Their bags are the most expensive, the most exclusive, and the hardest to find. Originally a 19th century saddle maker, Hermes has branched out into scarves, handbags, gloves, jewelry, clothing and shoes. In the picture is a Constance bag with signature "H" clasp, clutch bags, and an Evelyn, all of which have been house staples for years.
The Bag of Two Centuries
The mere mention of the word "Birkin" will make any fashion-conscious woman sit up with interest. An exclusive and extremely coveted bag, so many women put themselves on the list for a handmade Birkin this century and last, names are no longer being accepted. Created in honor of actress Jane Birkin, this bag was first introduced in the early 1980s.
