MEMORIAL
PRAYER
FOR
OUR BELOVED
HARLAN
This
is the prayer we had read at Harlan’s funeral.
We
just wanted to share this with you all as well.
O
heavenly Father, Source of strength in time of trouble,
with
sorrowing hearts, we turn to Thee for comfort
as
we share the grief that has befallen this household.
We
do not presume to understand, nor may we question
the
wisdom of Thy ways. Thou sendest sorrow and joy,
the
bitter and the sweet, dark clouds and bright sunlight.
We
only know, with the faith which Thou hast implanted
in
our souls, that Thou, O G-d, are the Creator of life, and
in
Thy hands are the souls of all those loved ones who
leave
us to return to Thee.
O
Father who healest the broken-hearted and bindest
up
their wounds, we pray Thee to send Thy consolation
to
the bereaved parents and to all who knew and loved
Harlan
Shawn Friedberg. May their trust in Thee not
falter
though they do not comprehend Thy purpose nor
now
understand why their love brings them tears. Keep
steadfast
their faith in Thee and in the goodness of life.
Help
them to find consolation in knowing that whatever
Thou
doest is for the best. Fill them with fortitude bravely
to
resume the daily tasks and challenges of life. In serving
Thee
and their fellowmen, may healing come to their
depressed
hearts.
O
merciful Father, keep in Thy loving care the soul of
our
dear one. May his soul be bound up in the bond of
eternal
life, together with all the precious souls that are
united
in Thee, our Creator and Father. Amen.
