Common Name:African Clawed Frog
Scientific Name:Xenopus laevis
Family:Pipidae
Origin:Africa
Diet:Carnivore
Temperament:Some what aggressive
Average Size:5-8 inches
Gender:Females are generally bigger and have a flap of skin(cloacla) near the rear end.
Perferred Water Conditions: Keep their water clean. Not many pH's seem to bother them. Keep there tank 74F-78F for best health.
Care: Many people believe you can throw this frog in a tank and feed it some frog pellets, this is not the case, they need a minimum tank of 10 gallons per 4 adults only filled with 6 inches of water, the frog needs to beable to stick its head out of the water without swimming. Feed your frog some meaty foods, live bloodworms, blackworms, earthworms, and feeder fish. Clean up 15 minutes after hes eating, they can get diseases easily in dirty water. I DO NOT SUGGEST PLACING THIS FROG WITH ANY FISH UNLESS THERE TO BE EATEN.
