School News

We are halfway through the school year 2003-2004.  Many huge events are happening this school year.  One of the most important events of this year is the March 4 Accreditation Mid-Term visit.  VSABMS teachers are working diligently to gather data and other evidence regarding our progress from the Accreditation Team recommendations in 2000.  As a result, we are temporarily releasing the students at 12:45 pm every Tuesday, until February 19, 2004.  Parents, please remain patient, as this workshops will improve our teaching strategies and skills, resulting in greater learning for your child.

Second quarter officially ended on the 16th of January.  It is now 3rd quarter.

The sports for 3rd quarter are boys basketball and girls soccer.  I encourage all students to try out, as Interscholastic sports will not only help shape character in a positive manner, but also provides an incentive to behave properly and maintain good academic standings.

Team News

We would like to welcome Miss Jessica Santos to our Incredible Dolphins family.  She is the new Language Arts teacher in room A-1.  (Yes, I know, Mr. Fullo moved again, but this time I'm sure he'll stay in A-2 at least until the end of the school year.)

We almost reached our $1,000 target for computers.  Soon, we will be the first team to place a computer on the classroom of each team teacher.  Moreover, Mr. Fullo will network the computers so the teachers and students can contact each other electronically without leaving their classrooms.  The students no longer have to worry about getting a corridor pass.  However, we can't be content and stop here.  Let us set a BIG GOAL and strive to put at least three computers in each classroom.  (Hint to the Incredible Dolphins Student Council)

Edward Sergio and Aljoe Llagas, as well as other members from the ID committee, deserve to be praised for making a profit of over $400 to help purchase computers for your classrooms.  They are the graphic artists and mastermind behind the success of the ID committee.  We are still selling ID's, and we need you to encourage your friends to buy more ID's so we can integrate more technology in our classrooms.

We are tentatively approved for our car-wash on February 29, 2004.  To encourage sales of our tickets, the winning home-base class will have a movie in the morning of activity day.  (Popcorn and snacks will be provided).  It should be a good competition, as each homebase has a number of students who display a talent on sales and marketing.  However, we know this time for sure Mr. Fullo's class will avenge their previous loss from Miss Obispo's class.

Since we're in that topic, I am proud to announce the Incredible Dolphins Team donated over 400 can foods to help people in need.  The teachers would personally like to thank and congratulate Diana Viray and her advisor, Mrs. Marlene Mendiola, for organizing the event.  Because of her hard-work, we were mentioned on KUAM news as well as the Pacific Daily News.  We would also like to congratulate Ms. Obispo first period students for collecting the highest number of canned foods (Over 150).  Of course, the entire team turned it into a great success.  Great job Dolphins!!!!!

Ms. Santos is already showing her mark by establishing a set of guidelines to increase student motivation.  Currently she is getting input from the students about their acceptable and unacceptable behaviors and their respective consequences.  She discussed your findings with the team teachers.  Currently, the teachers are devising a plan to implement her idea, as we think it would greatly motivate and improve student learning.  Moreover, we will involve the social committee of the IDSC to help plan out the rewards.  Please visit the web for updates.

Students, we are learning how to set goals.  Mr. Fullo will be taking your individual pictures to be posted on the bulletin board accompanied by your goal.  Come in to the computer lab (A2) either in the morning, lunch, or after school to input your goals and print out your pictures.

Every Monday, we will be conducting an assembly at the 6th grade Courtyard in front of Mrs. Mendiola's and Ms. Obispo's room.  Be sure you know the Mission, CODE, ESLR's, Dolphin Song, Pledge, Star Spangled Banner, and Fanoghe Chamoru.

Science fair is coming up.  Any interested student, please see Mr. Fullo.

Lastly, our prayers and thoughts are with Ms. Obispo and Mrs. Abagatnan.  Ms. Obispo's grandfather passed away recently and Mrs. Abagatnan was deployed to Iraq.  Let us include them in our nightly prayers.
