January 25 2004

For this week, we will finish up Chapter 1:  Physical Science.  We had a homework, section 1-5, page 27.  Next we will be doing reviews as well as concept mapping.  Fortunately, a new software (Inspiration 7.5) has arrived and I will install it tomorrow.  We should have fun making cool concept maps with it.  Don't forget, your grades for 2nd quarter are in, just click Grades on the top (thanks to Roy for the reminder).  Also, I will try to make my aides input all the grades from your team teachers  classes so you don't have to be kept in suspense.

You should begin doing your lab work #2, using transpiration to make a model of the water cycle.  Don't forget, the science fair participants will begin with our project tomorrow in the morning.  Get a good night's rest.

Today we were copying our science lab #2, replicating a water cycle.  Please click here if you want to view it and print it out.  This is a major project and is due in three weeks.

We are almost done with chapter 1 for physical science.  Prepare for a test sometime late next week, perhaps on Friday.  Start studying your notes now.

January 16 2004

The second quarter flew really quickly.  Your grades are in and will be posted this week.  Many of you have not turned in your group lab work, which will bring your grades down.  However, many of your individual experiments went extremely well, and it should make up for much of the incomplete group lab.

Just to recap, 2nd quarter was focused primarily on the application of the scientific method.  We worked with group members and individually to identify and apply all five steps.  This is a great preparation for the science fair which will take place during 3rd quarter.

For our classroom discussions, however, I will be focusing on Physical Science, the study of matter and energy.  During the first half of the quarter we will discuss matter, and on the latter half, we will discuss energy.  The specialized fields of chemistry and physics are difficult and I need you to concentrate and stay focused more than ever.  Please ask your parents for help if you are lost or seek my assistance in the morning of after-school

Sept 22 2003

We have a t-t-t-t TEST this Friday.  The test will consist of the vocabulary words we learned in chapter one as well as our understanding of the chapter using concept maps.  I suggest you start studying and ask ANY questions you may have or make comments you would like to point out.

Monday and Tuesday, we will compare and contrast our concept map with that of Mr. Fullo's.  Listen to his explanation as you will all be required to present sometime during the first quarter.

On Tuesday, be sure you have the technology chart done.  There are still some of you missing the vocabulary stories, so hurry up and turn it in.  We will also check our journals today.

On Wednesday, we will present our technology chart and have a simple game when we are placed in groups.

Thursday, we will review vocabulary and chapter.  The questions on pages 13 and 14 of your General Science book must be completed by then.

Friday, we have a test.  After the test, we will all rendezvous at Gameworks for a little pitcher of Cola, music, and some gaming fun.
