14-3-2003 ET On Earth In 21st Century? The Planetary Society 's SETI@home project will re observe the most promising candidate radio sources of its sky observations since May 1999 (screen saver program). After eliminating waves of pollution they will make a selection based upon factors guaranteeing radio sources as interesting as possible. They're not certain for 100% to find extraterrestrial intelligence this time but stay very optimistic for the future because of the improvement of their capabilities with astonishing rate. Thus in few years of days we can start realizing the first contact by sending radio waves of the same kind. Perhaps between now and 100 years we shall make our first radio contact with ET, learn his language, know his way of living, his favorate meals, his plans to visit his neighbours on Earth or even to invite us. We can ask them for their picture and send ours or in case in the right direction tell about the plate in the both the Voyagers, to prevent it lose in interstellar space. Against that time a continuous two-ways stream of information will be realised, both our spacecraft technologies will experience an accelerated development till they fly with speed of light or even faster. What can we practically do for our friends? In the first place we need a place, where we can meet in peace and prosperity. We should study the macromolecules of their nutrition to give them something to recuperate from their long travel. Maybe evolution of life depends on too many factors to give the same result (e.g. quantity of water, number of comet impact, quantity of UV-radiation...), but chemistry only depends on the physical and chemical conditions. by MVH - Your weather man | ||||||||||
