COURSE
DESCRIPTION
Desktop
Publishing/Multimedia is a one-year, single period course in which students gain
in-depth knowledge of desktop publishing software to enhance word processing
documents, flyers, agenda, conference programs, brochures, menus and
newsletters, and etc. In Multimedia
Presentations, students will gain knowledge in using multimedia software to
present multimedia presentations in addition to learning the integration of
sound, animation, images, and videotext and graphics. Students will learn how to use the
scanners, digital cameras, and video equipment. Completing projects are essential part
of the course. This class will
prepare students for MOUS Certification in MS PowerPoint.* Juniors and Seniors taking this course may participate
in the Cooperative Office Education Program.

CLASS PARTICIPATION
Class Participation will consist of several
areas:
Number of class periods missed and number of tardies to class will be factors.
Each student is expected to bring his or her book,
notebook, paper, and pen or pencil every day.
Each student is expected to ask questions as well as
answer questions.
Students are expected to have a positive attitude
toward school, class, the teachers, and other students.
Each student will be expected to follow the rules of
the class. Failure to do so can
reflect on class participation and/or being referred to the proper
administrator.
FBLA is co-curricular organization in which is part
of all Business and Information Technology Courses through the Career and
Technical Education from State Department of Education. All students are expected to participate
in all FBLA activities through their Business and Information Technology courses
and are expected to pay the FBLA Organizational Dues.
Students are also encouraged to participate/compete
as an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). This is an organization for business
students. The purpose of FBLA is to
prepare students for careers in business, entrepreneurial, or business-related
fields. This organization prepares
students for employment by promoting competent, aggressive business leadership,
increasing understanding of American free enterprise, establishing career goals,
encouraging scholarship, promoting efficient money management, and developing
character and self-confidence. The
activities encourage career development, civic service, economic education,
community involvement, and business advocacy. The dues to join this organization are
$10.00 and are due by October 1. We
encourage all students to join FBLA.
All business students are encouraged to join because
the fundamentals of this organization are integrated into the business
classroom.

ASSIGNMENTS AND PROJECTS
Students will engage in
various projects which will require some research and homework in order to fully
complete the assignment.
Each student will be
required to keep a 3-Ring Binder.
The binder will be collected each Six Weeks and graded as a test
grade.
All class work and homework
are expected to be completed by each student. Each student should do his or her own
work. If a student is caught
copying the assignment or there is sufficient evidence to show that the work was
copied, the student(s) involved will receive a zero on that
assignment.
If a student is caught
cheating on a quiz, test, or exam; the student will receive a zero and a
discipline referral will be turned into to the appropriate
administrator.
Any late
work will automatically lose ten (10) points for each day late.
