Grade Level:  11 and 12

 

The Cooperative Office Education Program is a cooperative arrangement between the school and various employers in the community.  It allows participating students who are acquiring a salable skill in the Business Education Department to work at the entry level as an extension of the classroom instruction.

 

Through the use of individualized training plans and periodic visitations by the COE Coordinator to the job site, the office training is planned, coordinated, and supervised by the school and the employer.  Upon completion of the school year and the student’s contract requirements for COE, the student will receive one (1) credit for 396 hours worked from August 1 to June 1 of the school year.  However, in order to receive credit for COE, the student must pass his/her related business class under the instruction of the COE Coordinator.

 

Objectives

 

The student will:

 

  1. Successfully complete his/her related Business and Information Technology course.

 

  1. Go to the COE job after attending school each day.

 

  1. Adjust to the conditions of employment in an office environment.

 

  1. Work effectively with co-workers.

 

  1. Accept responsibilities of the job and complete work assignments accurately and punctually.

 

  1. Apply skills and knowledge gained in the classroom to the job.

 

  1. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

  1. Organized work effectively and be able to establish priorities.

 

  1. Display good judgment and make necessary decisions concerning office duties.

 

  1. Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.

 

  1. Develop patterns of behavior and attitudes that will assist in succeeding and advancing in an office career.

 

  1. Increase proficiency in performing routine office tasks and duties.

 

  1. Develop the ability to meet the challenge of frequent change.

 

  1. Accept supervision on the job willingly.
