Course Information

Course Description

This course teaches students how to use Microsoft Word effectively for school and personal use, as well as, efficient use of the World Wide Web.  Emphasis is placed on keyboarding speed and accuracy through the use of proper technique.  Topics include:  formatting reports, creating tables, developing outlines, incorporating graphics into documents, writing personal/business letters.

Classroom Policies

Attendance:  Regular attendance in all classes is vital to insuring a quality learning experience and productive future for all students.



  1. Students are to show verified parent excuse notes to the teacher at the beginning of the hour.
  2. All course work missed must be completed within two (2) school days for each day absent.  If course work is not completed within the timeframe, students will receive a “0”.
  3. All students will be required to complete an Alternative Assignment for each absence.



1.      Students are to be in their seat when the bell rings.

2.      Every third tardy accumulated by a particular student in one grading period will be equivalent to an unexcused absence which will result in Tuesday/Thursday school.


Unexcused Absences:

  1. An unexcused absence will be considered in the computing of student grades.  Each unexcused absence will result in a 5% reduction of the total quarter grade, not to exceed a maximum of 20% of the grade.
  2. Work missed during unexcused absences must be completed; however, credit will not be granted.


Bathroom:  Students will be allowed to use the bathroom, via a pass, between the first and last fifteen minutes of the class period.


Course Work:  All course work will only be accepted on the day the course work is due.

Word Processing I is a highly individualized course.  Student success is dependent on daily effort.  Grades will be based on total points.  The following grade scale will be used:

A = 90%

B = 80%

C = 70%

D = 60%
