September 6th, 2010
Welcome
to
the
start up of sweets view. In time we will up
date to include photos.
But right now we have to
deal with the building of the site. For now
it’s free so keep the faith and keep checking in on
us. I’m sure in time it will get bigger and
better. So to the stagehands and us
rockers its time we build our world wide stage so
hang in there readers, stars, and rock stars.
Oh yea the Mrs. says Hello it should be updated
every week hey hand me that saw.
Readers, Stars, and Rock
stars. We’ve got our stage set up now our stagehands
just got done with all of the wiring and spotlights
are ready to go. Let’s give our stagehands a monster
round of applause for setting us up in our new
arena!
Now that many of you stars
haven’t found us yet in time we know you will. So
log onto www.sweetsview.com in the address bar NOT the
search engine box. That’s how you get to us.
Now it’s time to turn on
our spotlights. No one deserves it more than our
stagehands who have worked 24/7 getting us ready for
the show we call “Sweetsview”. So turn them bad boys
on (the spotlights) Awesome!
We checked with legal and
yes we can now update you on our postcards. As we
have to catch up as you know we got up to 492
postcards from around the world (no joke). The 493
postcard that we have in has a picture of a sandy
beach that’s at Tawas Bay, Michigan. On the back it
read “back in Michigan this weekend family reunion
Saturday. Then east Tawas to visit my old est. found
I am to be grandfather again. Heading south Monday.”
Ray Brooks. Why congrats Ray who is one of just many
of our good friends. Thanks Ray for our 493
postcard.
The 494 postcard we got in
has an awesome picture of the skyline of Toronto,
Canada. I didn’t know it was that big! This
postcard read,” Hi Everyone, I’m in Toronto having a
great time. Been meeting people from all over the
world. There are 7 million people living in Toronto.
Half of them were not born in Canada. Tell everyone
I said “Hey”. Mike Green. Thank you Mike Green for
our 494 postcard. Well everyone you can tell me and
the Press-Dispatch has gone our own way. Due to our
different view on things. And that’s fine but said
in a way you all know me it was only a matter of
time before we outgrew our stage. But like in life
things change.
you can still send your postcards to sweetsview Winslow, IN 47598 and we will post them on sweetsview.com Rock on good people.
While I’m making my way across the parking lot towards our new arena I have several thoughts going through my mind, mainly the readers we left behind by leaving the paper and it does bother me! Plus a case of, would you believe this, a touch of nerves. I guess that’s to be expected when you start something new! Plus the whole world can now read your words.
So after taking a real deep
breath it’s time we all get backstage and yes
readers, stars, and rockstars we have got lots of
room for all of you! Our stagehands are busy double
checking things over making sure things are up and
running. We got a little time here we are so shocked
and glad that you all stopped by to check out
sweetsview.
Things are ready to rock as our stagehands tell us,
I know it’s time we make our way towards the stage
but first we must flip on the spotlights. This
week’s turn goes to all of you who check out
sweetsview. We need your help! What with? Spreading
the word about sweetsview. I’m wondering just how
big we can make this thing with your help? So please
throw on our spotlights. “Awesome Job!”
Now it’s time to take our
new stage would please shine the spotlights on to
the postcards. The 495 postcard that was sent our
way has a picture of Toronto, Canada at nighttime
with the city all lit up with buildings lit up and
search light shining up in the sky. It is so cool
looking. The card reads,” They light up the city of
Toronto like this every night. I sit out on our roof
top patio in the town house that we are staying in
and look at this view every night. Went to Niagara
falls yesterday it was awesome!” Mike Green What a
view you must of enjoyed. I’m sure it’s something
you won’t forget. Thank you for sharing it with us
and for sending us our 495 postcard.
Our 496 postcard also comes
from Toronto, Canada. This one has a picture of the
city of Toronto from a bird’s eye view at daytime.
Its wild how big Toronto is. On the back of this one
reads,” Hi everyone, coming home tomorrow after 10
days in Toronto. Had lots of fun but it will be good
to be back home in Indiana. Tell everyone HI.” Mike
Green Mike, have a safe trip home and thank you for
showing us Toronto and for sending us our 496
postcard.
The 497 postcard has a
picture of the state fair gift shop which has big
blue ribbons and pigs on the roof of the building
with 2010 Indiana State Fair. Now that just funny!
This postcard reads,” Sweets, Greeting’s from the
Indiana State Fair. The year of the pigs 2010 is the
theme this year. You can see the pigs on the roof in
the picture of the Gift Ship. Our son Derek plays
the piano at the Pioneer building so we spent a lot
of time listening to his music.” Marvin and Sue
Ellen Barton, Petersburg, IN. That must lf been so
nice to see and hear your son Derek playing at the
Indiana State Fair you had to be so proud. Thank you
for sharing your postcard and the 497 one.
To send postcards to us the
address is sweetsview Winslow, IN 47598 and we will
share them with the world.
Fire up those spotlights on to Winslow, IN. Winslow is the place you want to be this Saturday September 18th for the Winslow Community Festival. It has a ton of stuff going on all day and even into the night. It starts with breakfast at the Riverside Park hosted by the Winslow Lions Club and that where the Poor Man’s Car Show will be. Then at 8:00am things start going on with the Flea Market on Main St. just to start. The Poor Man’s Car Show starts at 9:00am at the Riverside Park, there will be music uptown and we know you want to be in or watch the Light Up Winslow Parade, which starts around dark. We will be all over the place having fun and we want you to join in on the Winslow Community Festival.
Well readers, starts, and
rockstars I have to go to help out with the
festival. See you in Winslow, IN for it is our time
to shine!
September 22 2010
I hope you enjoyed last week’s show and already it is time for the next little rock show we call sweetsview. Hope you all had a good week. If so, cool, if not, don’t worry, we got another shot at it hopefully again.
Now it’s time we trip
to our backstage area and get a drink and a seat
before we get rocking. With our stagehands busy with
prepping our stage and making things already for us
to rock out. “Yo stagehands! Kick on those
fans, would you please?” Man that water tasted good.
Alright, hope you are ready, for here comes our
stagehands to take us towards the stage.
We get to kick on
those spotlights and this week’s turn goes to the
Winslow Lions Club and the rest of the groups who
got the Winslow Community Festival and, of course,
the world famous Light Up Winslow Parade, and man
did that rock (the Parade). So the Winslow Lions
Club and the rest of the groups would you please
kick on our spotlight? “Awesome! Great Job!” After
all of that would you please take our stage? Oh yes,
that’s what I’m talking about.
Please put our
spotlights to our postcards. Our 498 postcard has a
picture of what looks like your somewhat normal view
of mountains with trees. Just here and there, it’s
cool looking. Here is some 411: “Craters of the moon
is a National Monument located near the towns of
Carey and Area on highway 93 (east of Twins Falls
and Sun Valley, Idaho). Spring and the month of June
are good times to visit this unique area.” The rest
of the postcard read,” Hi Sweets, I am a beginning
rock climber and I climb with people from Moscow,
Russia who survived the breakup of the former Soviet
Union.” Janie Tormohlen. Why a beginning rocker
that’s cool, and thank you for our 498 postcard.
Ok, our 499 postcard
we got in came to us from Hollywood Beach, Florida.
On the front of this one has a picture of the beach
with its white sand its blue oceans with its palm
trees and with people enjoying all of it. So we flip
the Hollywood postcard over and it read, “Hello from
South Florida!” BUT here is the kicker no one put
their name on the postcard. “Hey what's the matter
are you shy?” So to whoever sent us our 499 postcard
Thank You.
Now did we get to 500 postcards? I know but I’m not going to tell ya, it’s called a “tease”. So you will have to log on next week and find out. Got a post card you want to send? It will get to us by mailing it to sweetsview Winslow, in 47598.
So now it’s time to put the spotlight on to Winslow to see what’s up and how it’s going? Hey now that I have a bit more freedom watch out! Anyway now I can give a great big shout out to Tom and Happy of the Trading Post. Man what a job! I don’t have to say anymore! Where would we be without you and to all of the Vinnedge family you all “rock.”Now if you missed the Winslow Community Festival what a shame for it was a blast. It had everything from breakfast at Riverside Park which was great too! A woman chain sawed who cut a beaver out of a tree, it was fun to watch. To a small yard sale to the Pike County Casting Contest, Kiddie train ride and fun for all. Center Street was busy with the inflatables to game and good for all, it was kind of crazy all day, and of course, everybody was everywhere.
Then it was time for the Light up Winslow Parade. I got to do both, watch it and be in it. In case you didn’t know way back when I thought up this parade, who know it would now last 5 years and keep growing. I can say I have seen some cool things in it and this one didn’t disappoint us either. It had the Winslow Lions Club Kiddies Train glowing and the engineer was also a glow. It was so cute! It had bike of all types from 20inch to motorcycles all of them a glow. And it even had a 3 tier birthday cake with 800 to 1,000 lights on it, Muren Church of God was letting everyone know they are about to celebrate their 100 years of being a church. You had to see it for words, I just don’t have them to describe. It was so good it took First place.
Who won the Poor
Man’s Car Show? That would be Mindy Adcock with her
1953 Pontiac Fire Chief. It was cool and if she hits
her horn you will know it. Yes, I didn’t have
anything in it for like the first time ever!
So our current State Rep. Mark Messmer asked me to help him out, you know I will for he has always been there for us and Winslow for all of the years in Winslow I have never seen any other State Rep work that hard for Winslow and I know him on more than just a political thing. So now that I can do what I want to do I can say it would be most wise to vote for the man for we don’t want to lose contact in the statehouse. It just makes good good sense.
It was way awesome what the
Outfitters Station put in the Parade, it was Chris
Ashby and his buddy who plays the bass. They went
rocking out bid time and yes rockers it was “loud
and proud rock.” Thank you guys it was too cool.
<="" a="">
I
got a question have you helped? What with? That
would be spreading the word about www.sweetsview.com If not; we could sure use
your help. If so, you rock and it will keep getting
better and we keep updating things. So rock on and
we will rock with you next week so “Rock On.”

September 30 2010
What a change with the weather. For now, its okay, but we all know what’s coming! So how about we go to our backstage area and get ready to rock this thing. While I’ve got all of you here, how about spreading the word about sweetsview.com? We could use the help; we will tank you in advance! What do you think about our website and our worldwide stage? Here is a thought, if you have a computer, print a copy of sweetsview and pass it out for the ones who don’t have a computer.
“What? Are we ready?”
ask our stagehands. Why sure we are! Let’s do this
and rock it out! As we make our way to the spotlight
the one who gets to turn them on this week is…All of
you who hit the web and found sweetsview.com. We’re
glad you found us and don’t be shy go ahead and take
the stage first, we don’t mind. Sometimes I just
forget that we are on a bigger stage now and I have
to now say, “Put those spotlights on to Winslow!
That would be Winslow, Indiana not Arizona. Just to
clear things up, see what happens when you’re stuck
in one way of thinking? Where was I? Oh, yeah, would
you please put those spotlights on to our postcard
stars and see who sent us a postcard.
Big Time Drum Roll as we
hit our 500th postcard. That is right rockers the
formerly Sweetscolumn and sweetsview has hit 500
postcards! Taa-daa! That’s just way to cool. On the
front of our 500th postcard has a picture from out
of the past like from the 40’s era. It has a
waitress holding some hot food with the front
reading, “Hominy Grill” “Grits are good for you!”
“Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.” The back of our
500th postcard reads,” Howdy ya’ll! I’m here in the
low country, Charleston, South Carolina and just in
from Savannah. The shrimp and grits at this place
are too (2) spiritual encounter. Take care! Your
loyal reader, Allen.”
What’s up Allen and
thank you for sending us our 500th postcard and to
all of the other 499 postcards you all rock!
The 501st postcard
that was sent our way came to us from Philadelphia,
“The city of brotherly love” on the front of our
501st postcard shows us the Philadelphia skyline
along with a water fountain with the word love that
was famous from back in the day. The back of our
501st postcard read, “Hi, Sweets! Sending some
brotherly love to Norm. Have not seen him in the
paper recently hope he is not sick.” Nelson and
Wormey.
Hey Nelson and Wormey, I’m
doing okay for now. Anyway no bugs like the most
things in life a little change blew in across the
stage and that’s okay for change is good, we think,
plus now I’m free to write like I want to without
the paper cutting most things I write. So, I or
should I say we hit the worldwide stage and we’re
hoping to rock this all big time and everything.
Sending some brotherly love right back to you,
Nelson and Wormey, and thank you for our 501st
postcard.
You can send us postcards
by snail mail to sweetsview Winslow, IN 47598. And
we’ll share them with our peeps. Could you shine
those spotlights onto Winslow, IN and not AZ? See
even I have to somewhat change my way of thinking to
expand our stage. I know it will take time but I’m
sure our readers, stars, and rockstars will grow to
even bigger numbers than we were dealing with. Who
knows how big it could get?!
Summer 2010 has come and
gone and what a hot summer it was. You know it’s
kind of strange to making change, but I feel and
know it’s for the best at least for now. And the
Mrs. Is doing a good job of rocking the paper. I
guess I got too wild or should I say I do have a
mind.
Speaking of rocking my
daughter is doing a great job at that as she is
doing all of the typing for me. Now to say, way to
rock Laura H.. And our secret computer tech, with
his mad computer skills also rocks for he put the
changes to the web site. That’s just way too cool!
Have you ever went running
with the Indians? Last Friday I got to do just that
at the 28th Annual Native American days that was
held at Angel Mounds Indiana State Museum. If you
have never checked it out I can say its well worth
the time and worth the road trip. They had
everything there at this past event from
storytelling to a dancing circle and arrowhead
making to Indian games they played in the past to
test their skills. All in all it was cool. So some
day if you can make the time it is worth checking out Angel
Mounds.
You know I’ve learned
something that’s kind of strange that is to me
anyway, our local libraries won’t let you log onto
facebook. As they say it is a chat room. But yet all
of the other libraries in all of the counties around
Pike County, you can log onto facebook. Here is the
even bigger kicker. The Pike County libraries are
building a million dollar library in Petersburg.
This brings up a point here in Pike County, IN they
will build a million dollar library but yet won’t
step into the 21st century by allowing you to log
onto facebook. Plus how will this affect the smaller libraries in
Pike County? Does anyone see the writing on the wall
or is it just me?
Now
to
the
Mrs. For the birthdays and anniversaries.

with it. Next week we will decide if we’re going to
hold the best spooked up yard within the city limits
of Winslow. I will say, this is not looking good!
Rockers, Stars, and
Rockstars along with our readers my time is up and I
have to go and get ready for next week’s show. SO be
good, help out, and rock on!
