Our Philosophy on Progressivism is that we believe that we focus mainly on the child's own interests and growth. We feel that it is necessary to teach students through their experiences to help them fathom what we are teaching. It has been proven and shown in our test scores that this method is successful. More students understand better when it relates to their personal life and to social encounters they deal with every day. Hands on activities are a way we like to make the children communicate and learn.
Yesterday in Miss Ruiz's 7th grade class, she had her students work together and go around the classroom to survey each other on how many glasses of water they drink a day. After asking this question, the children took the data and used it in Math to learn how to graph. This helps the children with their socializing skills and ability to make charts and graph.
