In Sweeney Middle School, our curriculum is built for all diversities of students in whatever level they fall into. We have programs for gifted and talented students who achieve above average grades on test scores. We have special class for advanced children so they can keep moving forward and challenging them. We also have a great program for students that are in the "average" range. This is great for our students to have, they usually fall into the category of A's B's and C's. This program helps students who get stuck sometimes and need a little more explanation in things, but are very smart and good learners. We also have a fantastic program for "below average" kids. These are kids that fall behind and need the information explained to them in detail and a lot of practice to get it. Our school has highly trained teachers to work with the children to find out the best way they learn and push them to do their best. We NEVER give up on any child. Our staff and administration look at each individual child and look for what learning styles suites them. In Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, our staff pick out one or more of the child's personality style, and helps the students absorb the information in that specific way. This is the reason why the classes are small (about 18 students per class).
Our school meets the requirements in the No Child Left Behind Act.
Our special education program is out of this world. We welcome all ethnicity's and disabilities at our school. We have a wonderful program with highly trained administration. We follow the laws for students with special needs so that every child succeeds and gets the help that they need.
We reward each child at the end of each marking period with a special breakfast held in the cafeteria. If the children earn Principles List (Straight A's) or Honor Roll (All A's and B's) they will be invited to a lovely breakfast where they will get to be with their friends for one period of the day, while skipping class, and getting a paper that acknowledges the honor they have earned, and a raffle for a drawing to win $10 Wawa gift cards.
Lunch time: Every day lunch may be brought by the children or my be ordered. The lunches are healthy and qualified by the state. Their will be a sandwich or cooked meat for protein, a side of vegetables and fruits, with choice of milk or water, and with a snack. The main course of the meal will change every day, so go to lunches on the website to see what todays meal is. If families have financial issues please contact the office and this problem will be fixed so every child has a meal every day.
