Coral is our newest addition! We raised Toggenburgs and Lamanchas for many years prior to starting our Nigerian herd and we have begun to miss having a few "big girls" around the farm. We had admired Coral and her dam Garnet when they were brought to an ADGA show on display this Summer so when this girl happened to come up for sale how could we resist the opportunity to add this rare, beautiful and unique breed to our farm. Coral's dam Garnet was on DHIR this year as a first-freshener and earned a butterfat average of 7.75% and protein 4.7% which would give her the equivalent of a *M in butterfat and protein if Guernseys were registered in ADGA. At this time all Guernseys are registered through the British Goat Society and making some big steps toward their acceptance into ADGA. Coral is bred to Bluecollar CrackerJack. Kidded April 4th with a single buckling and a very nice mammary! Nice udders are difficult to find at this point in the breed so we have a good start to the herd already with her. If I could change her I would level her out over the topline a bit although it appears she may have just been going through an awkward yearling stage as it has improved now. She has always leveled nicely when set up and on the walk. She is a very nice starter doe. Her buckling will be retained for future use. Planned breeding for 2012 to her son PoppyPatch KingMidas. Put a lot of thought into this decision and feel in order to get kids consistent with herself this will be the best pairing. Coral was bred Dec. 18th.
