Grading Policy:

In the primary grades, O's, S's, and N's are used to evaluate student's progress throughout the year. The "O" stands for outstanding, the "S" for satisfactory, and the "N" for needs improvement.

I evaluate each child based upon his/her individual progress and effort, not on how they compare to their classmates. My goal is to motivate them to become enthusiastic learners and enjoy school. In order to create that type of atmosphere, I try to write or draw a positive comment on any work that I have asked to be turned in to me. I use "checkmarks" occasionally for record keeping to show that they have finished an assignment. If a plus follows the check mark or letter grade, that indicates extra effort and if a minus follows that indicates activity not completed. Also, I keep some student work throughout the year to validate their progress.

If anyone has any questions about my grading policy, please be sure to get in contact with me. I would be happy to discuss any of your questions or comments.
