My brothers name is Chris and I bug him all the time.
I can find him anywhere, no matter what tree he may climb.
One day I saw him go outside to play as he always did
so I ran out the backdoor and behind a bush I hid.
He came walking down the path unaware of what lie ahead.
I could take pity on him, but I had other plans instead!
The timing would have to be just right, so careful I would be!
I didn't want to lose my chance and have him turn and flee!
I started quietly chanting, reciting the words I'd read.
I'd be really careful now for I didn't want him dead!
I only want him smaller so I'd get him out of my way!
But someone was looking out for him on that fateful day.
"Kayama, pajama, makimba, bamaloo
Hoshawma, bokawma and alakazoo!"
The words came rushing out as the air started to fog.
Before I even knew it, my brother was now my dog!
The panic began to rise inside and I could hardly stand.
I could never explain this, and mom would never understand!
I heard this little noise then that made me turn to see
that Chris had wandered over and was looking up at me.
"Jenny, what's the matter?" he said to me quite clear.
"You look like you have seen a ghost and your face is full of fear!"
I really tried to answer but instead could find no word
that would fully share my feelings for what had just occurred.
When all of a sudded it dawned on me I was talking to a dog!
And that was just impossible 'cause a dog can't dialogue!
"Jenny" he sadly said, "why won't you talk to me?"
"Jenny? . . . please Jenny" was the sound of his pitiful plea.
I blinked my eyes and looked again as the fog began to lift.
And as I looked, I realized I'd been given a wonderful gift!
This whole spell that went so wrong was not what it had seemed.
I'd fallen asleep behind that bush and it had all been dreamed!
