A New World
You find a new world has been thrust upon you.
Bewildered and lonely, not sure what to do.
Your struggles increase and your lonely heart aches.
"How much more?" you wonder as each day breaks.
While pondering the past, events from each day
in your mind and your heart now begin to replay.
Did I do my best? Could I have done more?
These are questions you ask in your search for
the peace you so desperately desire and need.
Words of encouragement you're asked to heed.
Yet the pain and the sorrow that fills you each day
remains in your heart and chases away
the comfort you seek, the relief you desire.
The weight of it all will soon cause you to tire.
But let me now say before going to far
the light that you were was like a star
that shined brightly for him in his dark final days,
with appreciation felt for your kind, thoughtful ways.
I know that he watches over each of us here.
For he's now an angel to those he held dear.
The bond that held you together in life,
that gave you security and made you his wife
will have to go with you the rest of your days,
guiding your path and lighting your way.
So take comfort in knowing that he's now at rest.
And in the long final days you did your best.
Put the past behind you and go on with your life
remembering the best from your days as his wife.
