My Mother
I've often wondered what my life would be
without my mother to stand by me.
To give comfort or support when I most need it,
whether it's with advice or just a touch of wit.
She helps me to laugh when I feel like crying,
keeps me going when I've stopped trying.
She's not just my mother - but my best friend too.
She never stops asking "Is there anything I can do?"
It's impossible to say just how much she's worth,
all the many things she's done from the moment she gave birth.
If the Lord were to take her I don't know what I'd do.
Such grief I'd feel, and lonliness too!
I count my blessings for a very special lady
who's as thoughtful and kind as anyone can be.
If I had to choose between her and another . . .
There'd be no choice - I'd choose MY MOTHER!
