A Rescued Dog
(doesn't it look like he's dancing to the music?)

Missy grew very quickly and soon became one of those breeds that when they lay on hard surfaces, their elbows swell. She was adopted out to a very nice family that provided her with her own couch! During the 6 months they had her, I was called at least twice because she had gotten away and the tag she wore from the vet's office listed us as her 'rescuers'. Then, one day I received a call from the new owners that Missy had "busted through their screen door and attacked a small dog that an elderly woman was walking". If we didn't take her back, she'd be put to sleep. Needless to say she came back and has stayed ever since.
Missy has proven to be a dog that needs strong control. Her previous family was one of soft tender voices and no control. NOT the right place for a dog like Missy. I've had my "runs" after her as she took off after a runner and their dog (no harm done, just sniffing) but - after many scolding sessions and 'stare downs' - Missy is learning that SHE doesn't make the rules.
She's also an interesting mix of loving - almost needy - and BOLD personalities with an "aggressive" play style that can make your heart jump! However, it's all show! If we make a quick gasp sound (like we were hurt) she instantly turns soft, shrinks down a bit and looks like she's saying "OH, I'm sorry, did I hurt you!???" If she had her way, she'd be our "lap dog extrordinare"! And once she's been petted, she doesn't go away. She leans on you (standing) or LAYS on you if you happen to be in her territory! (the floor) She now weighs in at 110 pounds!!
She seems to have changed since the passing of Lady & Stormer. I don't know if it's fear that - one dog disappeared, then another, is it her turn next? . . . OR one of I'm so lonely and I miss them so much. (I know exactly how she feels!)
There'll be no more abandonments for her. She's in her 'forever' home and we'll continue to take care of each other till the Lord decides otherwise!
