From The Heart

shades of gray, different hues
moods are changing, not on cue
out from nowhere, popping in
running a race I can't win
find a friend, someone to talk to
feeling lost, don't know what to do
"maxing out", out of control
sinking down this big dark hole
chest is hurting, really aches
must be when your heart breaks
feeling loss as never before
really rips down through your core
wanting only the best for him
making my days very grim
his laughter and his sparkling eyes
losing them, my sad heart cries
the loss and pain are very real
in time the wounds begin to heal
with lighter shades and hues of gray
ever changing throughout my day
the cycle of life continues on
out of sight, but never gone . . .
From The Heart
