Forever and a Day
There once lived a man I wish you knew.
He was the symbol of honor, brave and true.
He fought many battles and only lost one.
He didn’t really lose, his time had just come.
He fought his last fight with all his heart and will.
He didn’t quite make it still.
Through out his life he saw blue skies and tropical things.
He realized his wishes and many dreams.
But, his world was shattered one faithful day,
When he learned the woman he loved could not stay.
She moved on to heaven for forever and a day.
He lived on as I grew older.
My mom said that one time he told her,
That he thought the sun rose and set in me.
But, I knew that couldn’t be.
I knew for the first time he was not right.
The sun did not rise in me; he held all the suns light.
One day the news came there was a foe inside him.
Growing and growing and taking over him,
He fought so brave but God called to him.
All went dark and he closed his eyes.
He opened them to a wonderful surprise.
His love was standing in a great white light.
She took his hand and whispered, “This way.”
Together in heaven for forever and a day.
