1997 Jacques Villeneuve takes his first and so far only Drivers' Championship and Williams takes the Constructors'
Championship for a ninth time.
1996 Damon Hill wins the Drivers' Championship for Williams and the team takes their eighth Constructors' title.
1994 The season sees the Williams team suffer its first fatality when Ayrton Senna is killed at Imola. In a sombre
season the team wins the Constructors' Championship.
1993 Alain Prost wins his fourth Drivers' Championship with Williams and announces his retirement from the sport.
1992 Nigel Mansell wins the first five rounds of the season for Williams, the team goes on to take both Drivers' and
Constructors' titles. Mansell leaves the sport to compete in IndyCar.
1986 Team owner Frank Williams is seriously injured in a car accident. In typically determined fashion, he continues

2002 At the launch of the BAR004, WRC guru David Richards is appointed the team's new principal, replacing team
founder Craig Pollock. Richards spends most of the year restructuring BAR and building a foundation for 2003.
BAR finishes eighth in the Constructor's Championship, having scored seven points.
2001 Ricardo Zonta is replaced by Olivier Panis. Villeneuve grabs the team's first podium finishes with third places in
both Spain and Germany, and finishes seventh in the Drivers' Championship. 17 points is enough to earn BAR
sixth place in the Constructors' Championship.
2000 New Honda engines help the team to dramatically improve its performance, scoring 20 points to finish the
Constructors' Championship in fifth position.
1999 British American Racing is formed under the leadership of Craig Pollock with Jacques Villeneuve (1997 World
Champion) as lead driver. Villeneuve retires from 11 consecutive races - and fails to score a single point. The
