Biography of Busta Rhymes

Real name Trevor Smith, alias Busta Rhymes was born in Brooklyn New York in 1972. Busta is 31 years old. Busta Rhymes is the son of a electrical contractor and a home maker mother both are native Jamaicans. When Busta was 12 years old he moved to Long Island with his parents, around about the age of twelve Busta was a talented basketball player. Which showed when he attended Uniondale High School. However Busta did not want to play basketball his dream was to become a hip hop star.

While in 10th grade his wish finally came true. He rapped in a performing contest sponsored by none other than Chuck D and Public Enemy two of the most recognised rap artists of that time. Both Chuck D and Public Enemy were happy with Busta's  performance and asked him to record at Public Enemy's recording studio accompanied by rap group The Leaders of the New School. Both Busta and his group kept getting better and better as a result both Busta and the rest of The Leader of New York School landed record contracts with Elektra Records at the time Busta was only 17 years old and was still at school. In the end Busta decided that his music was too important to him so he dropped out of school and focused on his love for music.

Between the years 1990 to 1993 Busta and his group brought out two album called "Future Without a Past" and "T.I.M.E". The group had a massive  cult following, as a result Busta Rhymes started to lend his vocals to other groups as well such groups as Boyz II Men and TLC to name but a few. Things were finally falling into place until the back end of 1993, when tragedy struck. Busta's girlfriend at the time, went into labour at 5 months. The baby boy named Tahiem was born at just 2lb and survived for just 2 hours. Busta was deeply wounded by this and was in shock for quite a long time. In 1993 Busta also made his film debut in "Who's The Man".

In 1994 Busta became happy again with the birth of his second son, who he named T'Ziah. In the same year, Busta thought it was time to break away from "The Leaders of New York" and try and start a solo career and build on his acting career. In 1994 Busta's second film was called "Higher Learning", which was produced by John Singleton.

In 1996 Busta Rhymes' long awaited first solo album came out, which was called "The Coming". It made great profit for Busta, what made it even better for Busta was a song off the album called "Woo-Hah! (Got You All in Check)", which snuck into the top ten of the Billboard charts.

In 1997 greater success came for Busta Rhymes when his second album came out called "When Disaster Strikes", which prompted Busta to start his own record label up called "Flipmode Entertainment". In 1997 Busta also brought out his own clothing line called "Bushi". Busta also got together a group of his old friends and started a group called Flipmode Squad who features  Rampage, Serious, Spliff Star, Lord Have Mercy, Rah-Digga, and Baby Sham, as well as Busta himself. Busta also appeared in another film entitled "Rhyme & Reason".

In 1998 Flipmode Squad released their first album "The Imperial" in September of that year. Also in 1998 Busta hit the silver screen again not playing a real person but in fact the reptar wagon in the animated film "Rugrats The Movie.". Busta also did a soundtrack song for Rugrats The Movie" called , "On Your Marks, Get Set, Ready, Go!".  Both the film and the soundtrack were big commercial successes. In the same year Busta released his third solo album "Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front". The songs on the album included a duet with Ozzy Osbourne called "Iron Man,". Busta also did a duet with Janet Jackson called "What's It Gonna Be?!"Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front" entered the Billboard charts at number 13. In the same year Busta was arrested for being found with a live gun in his car.

In May of 1999 Busta went on tour with the likes of Foxy Brown, R.Kelly, Nas and other famous artists. The concert was brilliant and was  sold out. Also that year Busta enjoyed his own solo concert, which also sold out.

In 2000 Busta Rhymes released his forth solo album entitled "Anarchy", which again sold big. Busta also released the single "Break ya Neck", which was also a big success. Also in that year Busta Rhymes sang with Wu-Tang Clan on their album "The Wu". The track was called "The Monument", which so far has not been released only on the album. In 2000 Busta also starred in the film "Shaft" along side Samual L Jackson.

In 2001 Busta was busy again recording two albums in that year. The first of that year was called "The Genesis", which sold quite well and a song off the album was released called "Fire", which again sold well. The second album of that year was called "Turn It Up! The Very Best Of Busta Rhymes". The album includes songs like "Gimmie some mo" and "Break ya Neck.

In 2002 Busta starred in his latest film "Halloween Resurrection" in which he is the star of the film. Who knows what the year 2003 holds for Busta Rhymes. If this year is as good as the previous years, he will surely be in the Hip Hop Hall Of Fame.
