The village of Skaleta near Rethimnon on Crete 
Skaleta is one of the small villages that are in a row at the beach on the east side of Rethimnon (also Stavromenos, Adelianos Kampos, Platanes). It is a place that is mostly designed to please the tourists and can actually better be seen as some sort of suburb of Rethimnon. Inside the village there are a number of hotels, amongst which a very large one. Maybe it is suitable for people that just want to lie in the sand and do a little bit of swimming. All the facilities that you would expect at a large sandbeach such as taverne's, small bars and the possibillity for watersports are to be found here. Because the beaches are so large and wide in this area there is always space and you can find your peace if you want to. In the area there are also a few smaller, more intimate and cheaper accommodations. |
