Hotels and apartements on Karpathos There are quite a few hotels on the island of Karpathos, mainly in the capital Pigadia and in the surroundings of the beaches of Amopi. I've explored them on the internet and looked at hotels and apartments which I thought were nice, and also a bit affordable. 
The Balaskas Hotel is a small hotel in Diafani, and therefore it seems to me a bit more personal. It has 12 rooms and is located 300 metres from the beach of Diafani, up the hill. It is a low-priced hotel. All rooms have air conditioning and a balcony. A kitchenette in your room is optional. You can also have a cheap breakfasts between 8.00 and 11.00 hours in the morning. The owner gpicks you up for free from the airport or the port of Diafani. He also organizes personal trips to the village of Olympos in his own bus and has his own boat to take you to the beaches along the coast and to the nearby island SARIA, which is not far from Diafani and where remnants can be seen of an old pirate town. The Studio complex of Seaside is small, with only six studios in total, which are suitable for 2, 3 or 4 people. They are situated at a 1 kilometer distance of the village of Arkasa and at 80 meter distance of the beach of Saint Nicolas, which has been chosen as one of the cleanest beaches in the whole of Greece. At the beach you find restaurants and shops and there is a mini market. The bus stop is at a 3 minutes walk away from the building. All the studios have a tv and there is a kitchenette with a refridgerator and cooking facilities / oven. They are set in a beautiful garden. Seaside has many yearly returning visitors and that's not just because the studios are nice, but also because the prices are very reasonable (you can call them cheap). The owner has got a name asif she just stepped out of a fairy tale. Her name is Zaharoula Zouloufou and she is very fast in aswering e-mails. Tip: cheap prices and with a very friendly owner. Maria Studios are the best place for your holidays. It is composed by 6 studios (30 m2) and 2 apartments (50 m2), surrounded by a 4.000 meter garden. They all have a wonderful view of the ocean and the mountains of the beautiful island of Karpathos. The apartments can accommodate 5 people, while the studios 4 people. We have barbecue facilities in the garden and whenever our clients wish to, we grill for them. With the small complex there is a swimming pool. A great detached holiday house near Volada on KarpathosIn may 2005 we finished building our new holiday-house on Karpathos (70 m²). The house is build in Greek style in the middle of an olive-yard (1000 m²). There is, of course, a terrace ( 50 m²) with a pergola. Here you can enjoy the surroundings, see the sea in the distance, enjoy your home-made diner or take a sunbath. The house is ideal for 4 persons. It has two bedrooms, each with two beds of 2.20 m long. There is a possibility for a fifth person. Next to that there is a bed for children up till about three years. In the well equipped kitchen you can prepare your, hopefully tasty, meals. Of course there is a bathroom with shower. In it there is also a washing-machine. Outside we made a cold water shower. In these surroundings, only 10 minutes by foot from the lovely village Volada, it’s restful and you see hardly any tourists. Here you get the feeling to be a Greek amongst the Greek. So don’t be surprised if somebody puts some fruits, grapes or egg-plants on the outside-table. From this place you can make magnificent walks. For instant to mount Kali Limni (1215 m) the Flaskia gorge, or around the mountains on the left of the house. You will have splendid views on the sea and surroundings and hardly meet people. During the walks you might take a rest at Tannassis Tavern. Our house is situated in the Pini valley, about 500 m above sealevel. It’s near to the village Volada and it takes a 30 minutes walk to Othos. In these villages are some minimarkets. The have small but really nice greek restaurants like ‘Klimataria’ with really nice food, Antonios Tavern (lovely shrimps souvlaki) and in Othos f.i. you can eat nice pizza’s or have a great greek salad with pitabread. At the bakery in Aperi (8 minutes by car) we buy lovely bread. Here we love to eat for it’s not spoiled and the prices are right. By car it is about 20 minutes to the capital Pigadia, where we do some extensive shopping, and about 40 minutes to the airport. Most inhabitants of Karpathos say that the Pini valley is one of the nicest places of Karpathos to have a house. Nearby (15 minutes walk) there is a pass from which you see both sides of the island. From here you also might see beautiful sunsets. In about 15 - 20 minutes by car you can reach the beaches of Achata, Kato Lako, Kyra Panagia or Apela. This last beach has been called several times the nicest beach of the Mediterranian. But there are so much more beautiful beaches on Karpathos. This apartment complex is situated the southeast of Karpathos, in Laki, 10 minutes away by car from Pigadia and 15 minutes from the airport. There is a bus stop nearby the hotel. Within walking distance are the three beaches in the Amopi area. The hotel consists of six large apartments which all have air-conditioning and television. Each apartment has two separate rooms: a bedroom with twin beds and a living room with a sofa bed that can be made into a medium bed, ideal for the children. In the living room is a small kitchen with cooking utensils, a refrigerator and a dining area. All apartments have a porch with a table and chairs. In distance of 16 km from the city is found the coastal village Arkasa. Eleni Studios in Arkassa on Karpathos consists of ten bungalows and 4 double rooms. The bungalows have a kitchenette with a refrigerator, a living room and a separate bedroom. The double rooms have a double bed and a balcony overlooking the sea. The complex has a saltwater swimming pool and a bar. Dorana Studios in Diafani Karpathos consists of 9 studios in different size that are suitable for 2, 3 or 4 people. There is even an accommodation that is appropriate for 6 persons. All studios have a private balcony with a splendid sea view. The complex is located 50 metres from the sea and 200 metres from the port and close to it are restaurants, bars and tavernas. On the ground floor of Dorana is a small supermarket. The bus stop is 20 metres away. The studios have hotplates and every studio has a refrigerator. Diafani is the harbor in the north of the island of Karpathos, not far from the traditional village of Olympos. Room rates have not been specified. The studios of Olympos in Amopi are in the area in the south of Karpathos on 6 kilometres from the airport and the port. It is within one hundred meters from the sea and looks out over the blue water. The complex is a small family hotel and it is made of 4 large studios and 1 apartment. The hotel is located near a bus stop, restaurants and shops and it is a ten minutes walk to the beaches of Kastelia and Amopi. 9 Studios has rooms and studios on two floors. Below are the smaller rooms and an apartment of two rooms. These rooms come out at a courtyard where there are views to the sea. On the first floor are the larger rooms with doors opening onto a balcony with a sea view.
