Galissas Beach on the island of Syros, Cyclades, Greece
The beach of Galissas is situated in the south / southwest of the island of Syros and is one of the nicest and largest beaches of Syros. Personally this is my favorite. There is a part with sunbeds and umbrellas and there is a part which is more unspoilt. For the people that are looking for shade there are also some trees on the beach. It is a beautiful beach with good sand and clear water. At the end of the beach there is a good taverna where you can have a bite to eat, but there are more restaurants to choose from, a couple of mini markets and there are several acccommodations on and around the beach.
The distance to the capital Ermoupolis is about 7 kilometers. The sandy beach of Galissos is situated in an "enclosed" bay with clear and calm waters and it is shallow, so safe for small children. Galissas Beach is also a good place to watch the sunsets. Compared to some other parts of Syros this area is quite green.
Within a few minutes walking distance from Galissas is another beach which is called Armeos Beach. This beach be reached if you follow the path that leads from the church
