Hotels on ChiosOf course there are quite a few hotels on the island of Chios, but for now our attention has been drawn to this hotel, the Dolphins Hotel in Karfas. Someone who has stayed there tipped it to us. It looked pretty good and a bit away from the rest of the village, and the views are supposedly beautiful. Besides that there is a small kitchen in each of the rooms and apartments and it wasn't very expensive.

Karfas is a coastal resort at a 6 kilometer distance of the capital Chios Town, and it is situated in the soutwest of the island. It is the largest tourist resort of the island and there is a long sandbeach where it is easy to get into the water (and so also safe for children). All facilities like umbrella's and sunbeds are available on the beach and you can also practise all kinds of watersports. Karfas is also a nice place for snorkling. There is a wide variety in restaurants and bars, and there are minimarkets for the every day shopping. Most of them are directly near the bay and spread over lenght the beach. the village doen't really have a center. In the main street of the village there is a bank / cashmachine where you can withdraw money.
The surroundings of Karfas are beautiful and green and suitable for walks. Also on a cycle you can explore the area. On Chios the public transport isn't the best so if you want to really explore the island than it pays off to rent a car.
