The beach of Ammoudara or Amoudara (Heraklion) on Crete

This 5 kilometer long and beautiful sandy beach is situated just outside of the capital Heraklion on the west side of the town. There are sunbeds and parasols for rent, there is an opportunity to practise watersports and there are tavernes where you can get a drink or something to eat. It's a popular destination for both tourists and the inhabitants of Heraklion. In the village of Ammoudara there are plenty of shops and there is a nightlife. The distance to the center of Heraklion is about 4 kilometers.
