map Agios Konstantinos & Kampos, Samos Next to Avlakia, between Agios Konstantinos and Avlakia is the slightly larger village of Kampos Vourlioton (larger than Avlakia, the signs simply state "Kampos). It is located in a small plain surrounded by mountains (Kampos is the Greek word for "plain"). There is no real center and the houses are more spread out as if it were a number of small villages. In Kampos there are a few interesting churches. You can see them from the road as you drive along. You'll have to walk to these churches. If you drive toward Karlovassi you see them on your left.

The Agia Matrona is located on the south side of the village and contains beautiful frescoes from the 18th century. This church is really worth a visit. I think it's one of the most beautiful churches I've seen. The murals tell the story of Creation and the Fall, Eve gives Adam the apple and the expulsion from Paradise. Also in the south of the village is the church of Agia Pelagia. This church does not contain frescoes, but it's nice to see. You will have to look for this church, because you've already passed it before you know it. It is at the beginning of the hike at a small cluster of houses and it stands behind the first house - you can not see him from the path. If you've taken a look at this church follow the path back up if you want to walk to the church with the frescoes. Finally at the coast there is the newer large church of Kampos.

The beach of Kampos is called Svala Beach and this is just a quiet pebble beach with a taverna. You reach it over a small road and at the end it turns into a path.
