Taking Charge!
Mood:  a-ok
Well Paco is large and in charge. He thinks he is one tough cookie!
He isn't shy at all for obedience anymore and he is now enjoying going for walks.
He will make me drag him to go out - but then makes me drag him to come in... what a bugger!

More Sit - from a different perspective!
Combat training begins. We will not allow Paco to be a chicken. So we have enrolled him in obedience. This is combat training: one kindergarten class and one obedience class each week for the next two weeks and then 6 weekly classes of obedience. The 8 week class - obedience is more structured and not so "in your face". Paco isn't forced to interact with the dogs, although he seems more interested in doing so now. He thinks this is pretty cool I think. So his first obedience is today. He does great. He still refuses to sit on tile though, so we have to bring a little blanket for him to sit on. But at least he is having fun!

Paco goes to obedience....
Today is Paco's first day at obedience. We are expecting that people will be in awe of his wonderful listening skills and tricks (we have been training him ourselves since we first got him).
Well.....Paco is very shy. 15 dogs and like 20 people is not his kind of party. He refuses to sit (enter phobia of sitting on tile here) and will not come out from behind our legs. We are very happy we are here now. I couldn't say we were mad or upset - I know if I was 4 lbs surrounded by huge dogs with attitude I would be scared. Well we work on sit and down and call it a night. Next week will be better..we are sure.

Sit, Paco, Sit!
Paco is four months old and we have enrolled him in puppy kindergarten. Our vet holds 4 week socialization classes free for his clients, so we enrolled. Paco has been introduced to lots of people though. I have taken him to work with me for almost the first four months of his life with us. He has been introduced to old people, young people, men, women, children, cats and dogs and even a bird and fish. But..even all of that did not prepare us for what was going to happen at puppy kindergarten. The first week is just for parents. Paco stayed at home, poor lil guy. They told us what to expect and how bad puppies are at this age (We are snickering at this point - we have it made, our puppy is an angel). Our dog doesn't chew through furniture, bute at people, bark, or jump up on everyone. These people's dogs seem nuts. I am almost tempted to not bring Paco next week..but we do. And we are glad!

Uh! Oh!

Now Playing: Vaccinations Suck!
Well it was only a few days after Paco's shot that we noticed he had a bump on his back, near his hind legs. It turns out that this gumball shaped bump is a localized reaction from his rabies shot. Turns out a lot of dogs get this. I personally don't like the fact that he got it..I hate injecting stuff into my poor little puppy - but I don't want to take chances..so bumps or no bumps he gets the shots. I guess this is something I have to do to protect my lil guy!
