Bucks Make Final Roster Cuts, Opening Roster Trimmed Back
to 18 Players.
October 15, 2003 - (10/14/03) LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks made
their final training camp cuts today to trim the roster to 18 players as
required by the Central Hockey League. Forwards Bill Zalba, and Caleb Moffat,
along with defenseman Scott English were placed on waivers.
“We had a lot of young guys in here looking for jobs,” said head coach
and general manager Terry Ruskowski. “We had some hard decisions to make,
but they had to be made.”
The Bucks worked hard in the off season to strengthen their roster.
“I think we are going to be stronger on defense,” said Ruskowski. “We
added some good defenseman to this year’s team.”
The Bucks complete 18 man roster is listed below.
PRACTICE TIMES
The Bucks will not skate on Thursday. Laredo will leave for Corpus Christi
on Friday morning so they can skate in the afternoon at Memorial Coliseum in
preparation for Saturday night’s game.

12, 2003 - (10/12/03) AUSTIN, Texas – Sunday night the Laredo Bucks
and the Austin Ice Bats combined for 10 fights as the Bucks slugged their
way to a 4-2 win in Austin in Laredo’s final preseason game. Bucks goalie
David Guerrera stopped 43 of 45 Ice Bats shots to pick up the win. The Bucks
open the regular season in Corpus Christi on October 18th, the Bucks home
opener is set for Friday, October 24th, against San Angelo at the LEC. Call

The two teams renewed hostilities as they engaged in four fights in the
first six minutes of the game. The Bucks got on the scoreboard when they
went to work on a five minute major power play. Austin’s Derek Stone
received a major for slashing and was ejected from the game. Laredo
defenseman J.F. David scored on a wrist shot from the right point to put the
Bucks up 1-0 at 12:42. Just 23 second later the Bucks capitalized again.
Forward Jason Bone ripped a slap shot from the left circle into the net to
make to 2-0 Laredo. Later in the period defenseman Dion Hyman slid a nice
pass in front for James Heibert who one-timed the puck home at 16:45 to make
it 3-0 Laredo.
The Bucks picked up the only goal of the second period. Defenseman Dion
Hyman cut across the Austin blue line, skated down the slot and wristed the
puck into the top corner of the net at 10:05 of the period.
In the third period the tensions boiled over again as the teams engaged in a
full line brawl with all five skaters on each side squaring off at 2:52 of
the frame. The Ice Bats made a late charge and forward Kelly Smart scored at
4:54 and forward Brett Seguin tallied at 11:21, but that was as close as

three players from their training camp roster. Forwards Jason Bone, Aaron
Winterholt and Jeremy Cornish were placed on waivers. The Bucks will make
their final training camp cuts on Wednesday as they trim the roster to 18
players for the opening of the CHL season this Saturday night in Corpus
Christi.
PRACTICE TIMES
The Bucks will practice at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the LEC. The team will not
skate at all on Thursday. The Bucks will leave for Corpus Christi on Friday

Laredo Bucks Will Be Holding
National Anthem Auditions
October 13, 2003 - (10/13/03) LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo
Bucks will be holding auditions for national anthem singers Monday,
October 20th, and Tuesday, October 21st at the Laredo Entertainment
Center. Applicants must fill out an application and return it no later
than this coming Friday at 5 p.m.
“We are looking for people who really enjoy signing,” said Bucks
Game Promotions Director Mario Mecaroni. “The national anthem is a
very important part of the game and we are looking for the best singers
we can find.”
All auditions will be held at the LEC from 6-7 p.m. on the 20th and
21st. Applicants can pickup an application at the LEC.

(4/02/03) After winning their first-ever
playoff series, the Laredo Bucks are preparing for a best-of-seven series
against Austin in the Central Hockey League’s Southern Conference finals.
The Bucks eliminated the Odessa Jackalopes with Tuesday’s 3-2 victory in
Odessa. The dramatic victory gave the Bucks a three-games-to-two series win.
The Bucks scored first on Chris Grenville’s power-play goal at 11:56 of
the first period. After Odessa tied the game early in the second period,
Michel Periard put the Bucks ahead to stay at the 7:39 mark with his third
goal in three playoff games. At the 11:15 mark, Andy Lundbohm gave the Bucks
a 3-1 lead. Although Scott Hillman’s goal at 6:15 of the third period
brought the Jackalopes within a goal, goaltender Marc-Andre Leclerc and the
Bucks preserved the lead. Leclerc finished the game with 30 saves, including
several in the closing seconds of the game.
The Austin Ice Bats compiled a 46-14-4 record and 96 points in the
regular season to finish with the best record in the Central Hockey League.
The defending Southern Conference champions won seven of ten regular-season
meetings with the Bucks.
The Bucks will host Games Three and Four of the conference finals next
Tuesday and Thursday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Tickets are now on
