Where do I start?
I am owned by 2 Alaskan Malamutes, Tundra & Timber, a German Shorthair named Louie, 3 Cats (Smokey, Hailey & Sammy) and a 55 gal fish tank.
My life with Malamutes started 6 yrs ago with Tundra. Then we adopted Timber from TAMR, and then we adopted Louie from his breeder. The cats came long before the dogs, and the fish too.
When I got Tundra, I was not ready for life with a Malamute, and I did a lot of research. I learned quickly and I've actually been in a learning tornado since. My life and passion quickly became Malamutes, and life with them. I believe that if I didn't have this passion, my life with Malamutes would have been cut short.
When we adopted Timber, my eyes were opened to the wonderful world of rescue. I thought it was nothing short of amazing what people were willing to do to help find these dogs homes. While the adoption process can seem daunting at times, I believe it is worth the time & energy - the dogs deserve the best home we/rescue can find.
It's been a little over a year since I stepped up and decided to help out with Malamute rescue. I became affiliated with AMAL, and I covered the state of ND to the best of my ability.
Then, a month ago I was blessed with help. Sue Pelzer contacted me and was interested in helping with Malamute rescue, she lives in MN. So we've joined forces to cover the states of ND & MN. We've decided to call our effort MinnKota Alaskan Malamute Rescue.
I have to say a big Thank You to the people who have helped me so far. I appreciate all the help and guidance you've given me. Friends like you are priceless.
So, there ya have it. A very short story of how I stumbled into Malamute Rescue. It's been a great journey so far, and I hope and pray for great things.
