The guitar strings are named at the following: EADGBE
1-E-------
2-B-------
3-G-------
4-D-------
5-A-------
6-E-------
The guitar strings are also numbered 1-6, so that the first string is the highest note, E-the one that is closest to the floor when holding the guitar in the correct position (for right handers, if your left handed its the exact opposite) Therefor the 2nd string would be B, third string would be G, 4th string is D, 5th string is A and 6th string is the deep E- that it closest to the ceiling.
Its important to memorize the names of the strings so I learned them as this Eat All Day Get Big Easy..it doesnt make sense I know, but believe me its stupidity sticks!
