Some people are expressing an interest in visiting Israel, not only to see the land, but to make some sort of difference during their short stay.
Immediately upon hearing of this I thought "clean up!"
I've always wanted to see 'The Galilee'. The day finally came when this dream would become a reality. From afar 'The Sea' looked awesome! I was beaming with delight from ear to ear, wow I was almost there. But my heart dropped and I became teary eyed as I stood along its banks, among the trash! My joy had turned to sorrow.
I kept thinking: "Who would do such a thing?" "This is the drinking water for most of Israel." This is desecration, blasphemy or something." My spirit wept.
I felt as if the Lord was showing me what he sees. I felt He was saying "if my people praying for rain would get off their knees, humble themselves by cleaning up this mess...that day, in season or out of season, there will be a rain that will fill its banks".
Since than, I have felt much sorrow. Parks, overlooks, fields, streams, cities and even cemeteries...trashed!
Once my wife and I cleaned the cemetery in Arad (the town we live in). It felt so good! It felt as if all heaven got excited! There happened to be a few bewildered bystanders looking as if they just saw a sign and wonder or miracle or something. We made an impact in heaven and on earth!
It's such a simple gesture, yet so profound! Perhaps more humbling than washing people's feet. Just think "Picking Up Trash!"
We will leave them wondering "What manner of people are these?" "Who would do such a thing?"
We will provoke some to jealousy. Perhaps showing them their shame!
Note: We can not clean up a whole country. I doubt if we can even make a dent (1 to 2 large trash bags each per day)! But, we can make a statement "Prepare the way for the Lord!" Isa.40:3
