The Lord put 42 Holocaust Survivors, a Jewish widow / mother of 3, a Jewish family from France, a Jewish family from Romania and an Arab family on my heart. These people all live in Arad (our town) and stand in need of assistance.
At first I had no idea how to tackle such a monumental task therefore I simply posted it here under projects and announced that the ball was now back in God’s court.
Well a church sent us $1,900.00 for food, which put the ball back in my court! I got busy doing the footwork of delivering food, Bibles, books, and tracts to all 46.
Now that the smoke has cleared, I find myself faced again with “How to tackle this monumental task?” Just when I when I was reaching my wits end, the Holy Spirit gives me the answer!
The $1,900.00 was the key! Basically, start a savings fund until it reaches $1,900.00 and than simply go shopping again. Thus this will be an ongoing cycle and anyone moved to donate towards it, can.
Already I’ve had lots of helpful suggestions, the most popular being “Why not just shop as the money comes in and check the names off, instead of trying to do it all in one day?” To me, I think that would cause mass confusion. Giving a few hungry people, in a group, food and having the others wait. Wait without being able to tell them for how long? I can see it now, the phone jumping off the hook: “Where’s my food?” “Did the food come yet?” “Why was their box bigger than mine?” etc, etc, etc.
Another person suggested that I update the list of Holocaust Survivors at least monthly. I say why? Sure the count may vary somewhat with a death or with the arrival of another Holocaust survivor …but it’s simply a matter of spending $1,900.00 on 44 families, 45, 46, or 47. Not a big deal! The list can be adjusted while in-process or on the fly (plus or minus a loaf of bread here or there).
Look, I’m trying to keep these projects simple! The poor will be with us always. The way I see it, the Lord gave us 46 hungry sheep (mouths) to feed. I’m not trying to feed all the hungry people in Israel nor has He told me to. I've got my hands full just trying to feed the ones God gave me now. It’s not like I have it to give and give not.

Forgive me if this letter sounds somewhat insensitive or blunt (poor being with us always, mouths to feed, not trying to feed all the hungry, etc). On the contrary, I really truly care! This letter is just not ‘sugar coated’ instead it’s written from the trenches, from the man in the field. Until we can feed these, how can we feed more?
The first and last time we fed this flock was 9/30/03.
