On Sept 17, 2003 Sid Roth was speaking in Tiberias. I decided to take a Bedouin friend suffering from diabetics up to meet him. My friend was scheduled to have his foot amputated on the 21st and needed a miracle. Click here to see pictures of foot. Warning: Not a pretty sight.
When traveling I like to ‘kill at least two birds with one stone’. Knowing that we’d be passing right close (smile) to Jericho…I decided to give Ida a call. You see, Ida visits a Moroccan family in Jericho and I’ve heard something about someone doing missionary work behind the line. I wanted to know if they needed any Arabic Bible, books, tracts, etc.
Ida gave me a number. I called and talked to a lady named Karen who said that she was just on our knees praying for Arabic Christian materials.
I brought her just about everything I had: 25 Bibles, 462 testimonial books, 4 Arabic Jesus videos, 75 booklets, 1252 tracts, and 100 flyers.
She met us at the check point where we were shown favor and permitted to enter at our own risk. Showing us their facilities, she brought us up to date. They had started teaching English classes and could desperately use school supplies and so on.
While there I rode the cable car to the top of the alleged Mt. of Temptation, seen remains of the Old City and its famous wall, got water from Elisha’s Spring for my friends foot, and had my picture taken in front of The Oasis Casino.
Here are some letters that Karen e-mailed to Ida who forwarded to me. After reading them you will see better why we gave Karen: diapers, school supplies, clothes, and toys. Letter #1, Letter #2, Letter #3
(We hired a man with a cart to transport the goods from our car to an awaiting cab and friend on the other side. And on to Karen at the ‘Bread of Life Church’.)
Note: The road running adjacent to the Dead Sea is in the Jordan Valley. Thus the hotels along the Dead Sea are likewise in the valley. It is advisable not to travel the Jordan Valley strip between Jericho and Tiberias after dark! It is not safe. Click here to see map. (Also highlighted other points of interest).
Also, my friend still has his foot! He and his family came to the Camel Ranch with Lura.
