International Tourney – Beershva 3/9/04 to 3/17/04

Playing chess over here is so awesome! It’s like running with the Big Dogs! I was at the Beersheva Chess Club last Thursday and noticed a chess match in-process. I never saw anything like it! The tournament consisted of ten Masters: three GM (Grandmasters), two IM (International Masters), one FM (FIDE Master), and four NM (National Masters).

In tournament play you must write down your moves, including your opponent’s. If you think chess notation is a hectic, try writing it right to left Hebrew style!

For an example, click here to see a game that I played against a guy much stronger than myself. I forced a draw, causing an upset with him and smiles among the spectators!

P.S. If you don’t play chess, please pass this info onto someone who does…he or she I think would appreciate the story, the photos, and the game.
