Hi! The lawyer gave me permission to go to Arad to arrange things for Monday clothing distribution, etc. The Haredim reported me being away from Eddie. The police came to the King's Men Chess and Bible Shop and arrested me. The lawyer had to fax permission from his office to the police station, so it was just a matter of getting things straightened out and clarifying that the Judge said I had to be with Eddie 24 hours a day. I signed to be responsible for him, and did not think it meant a literal 24 hours a day under house arrest with him. The police said it was a ridiculous order since it places me under arrest without a charge. So the lawyer has to go back to the Judge and get the order amended so that I am allowed to go out to get food, etc.
They released me after a couple hours, but I was able to talk to several of the policemen. Plus, I was wearing my shirt with a red cross on it, which says, “This shirt is illegal in 51 countries”, along with Romans 1:16. The witness goes on! Meanwhile, I am here with Eddie at the Beersheva Congregation, which is nice, but I can't go to the bank or go home to feed the cat or anything. So we need to depend on other people. Is there a lesson in that? Tim is a godsend - he has been taking care of almost everything. We thank God for his willingness to help!
We also thank God for providing this place. I feel a little as if we are camping out. We are sleeping in a storage room and we have to go outside to the bathroom and to another building for showers. We have to keep the doors closed to prevent the stray cats from coming in. There is a nice picnic table outside our door. That's where I have been spending my time in the daylight, with my computer (has Bible on it), and my notepad. As soon as the sun begins to set, it is too cold to sit outside. The best thing is we don’t have to drive to congregation! We’re already here and it’s not much different from Arad; we still have the Haredim screaming outside while we are trying to worship the Lord!
Something else (nice) happened at the police station. One of the policemen who has been hostile to us, was unusually nice - it seems that one of the Haredim put false charges against him. He couldn't believe that these people would lie. He was very naive about them. Now his eyes are open. Rebekah told him to join the club - they have been doing that to us for five years. So we had a nice chat about his family.
Please continue to pray in Resurrection Victory that we will be able to go on our planned speaking tour. Y’shua is Lord over everything! He is on the throne and worthy of our worship! We wish you a blessed and God-centered Easter/Passover Season! We celebrate with you our Risen Lord and all the blessings that accompany the Resurrected Life!
With Love because we are IN HIM, Lura (and Eddie) Beckford, Arad, Israel
