Another interesting day!

Today, I figured “Let me stop by the Congregation on my way to the Storefront”. I figured, with all this Datim activity there just might be more than 2 or 3 of them out front of the place this morning, and I was right!

Two of them had chairs, leaning back with their heads against the wall. But, it is legal for the Datim to do this to Christians/Messianics. “The sidewalk is public property.” “The outside of the wall belongs to the city.” “If you call us (the police) about any of this again, we will arrest you!”

Yet, 50 tourists get attacked for walking on what should be public sidewalks, but in an orthodox neighborhood, which I guess means that the sidewalks were private. (see June 29, 2006 story)

It looks like they’re turning up the heat of the fiery furnace!

Well, all was well at the Storefront. We had around 50 of our guys show up.

I ordered a huge pot of homemade Russian soup from the restaurant next door which was ready around lunchtime. At the end of the day, there was still a lot left and I noticed one of the pensioners eyeballing it. I asked him if he wanted the remaining soup, he said “yes”, but I didn’t have anything to put it in. So, I decided to drop him off at home, let K* (the young lady who’s helping me) carry it up, and bring the empty pot down. But, he insisted that we both come up.

It was nice meeting his wife. She insisted on giving us some chocolate pieces of candy, and apologized for the apartment being so cold. She told and showed us that their heater unit wasn’t working.

Once again, here I go being moved by compassion, I asked K* to help her put what she just told us, down in writing.

The estimated repair cost is 5,000 shekels ($1,162.79 @ 4.3 exchange rate) which I will post under needs.

P.S.
I think the repair cost is a bit high, but I don’t know! In a case like this, no way would I just hand over 5,000 shekels. If someone, a group, or a church wants to help this elderly Jewish couple out…I will oversee the repairs, take a few pictures, and e-mail receipts.

Also, I realize that the poor will be with us always and we can't solve all of Israels problems. But I wanted to share with you how God put this couple in our path.
