My name is Nathanael I was born in Chicago Hts., Illinois in the late 70’s; I’ve lived most of my life in the south suburbs of Chicago. I left Illinois in December 1998 leaving behind my girlfriend and most of my family and loved one’s.
I attended
Prairie State College after high school with my major in biology and my heart
set towards teaching in the future. My second year at college turned into a
complete mess with classes that were required for my graduation being filled,
and me being completely frustrated.
Late into my second year I started looking into alternate plans for my education with the situation at Prairie. With an interest in electronics, and confirmation from the ITT Rep., that the classes and my degree from there institution would transfer to the four year college that I had also been looking into. I decided that it would be in my best interest to get some hands on experience at there institution. After completing my degree at ITT with a GPA of 3.8. I felt completely confident that I would be accepted into Purdue Calumet with my associate’s degree under my belt. I was accepted into Purdue but all of the classes that I had taken at ITT were not accepted. With dismay I took a year off with my associates and continued working at the bio-medical repair company Dade Behring as a technician.
Working at Dade Behring I quickly moved up in their Illinois facility and soon given an opportunity with six other technicians to move down to Arizona and help build another repair facility their. With our different talents in many device areas the shop had all the information and talent it needed to start. After being in Arizona for about three months I felt the need again to continue my education and get the bachelors that I’ve wanted for so long. And that is what has led to Devry. Currently I work at Baxter Healthcare, my title is a senior level technician in charge of training of new employees and update training on current employees.
Training new employees on Baxter medical equipment and trouble shooting, techniques on different device types. The Average workweek in hours ranges from about 45hrs to about 56hrs, but in the winter season the hours worked increase 56+ with mandatory overtime. In retrospect after moving to Arizona about three months later my girlfriend and the love of my life moved down to be with me. We eventually got married and are now having a baby that will soon arrive in early November 2002. Since that happened I’ve never been happier, than what I am right now.
