M & M in San Francisco - Alcatraz

We
decided to visit Alcatraz, which we discovered was not just a prison
in the fifties/sixties, but originated as a fort and military prison
during the American civil war.

The
cells they used to keep the prisoners in. They were tiny and scummy.
It was explained during the visit that the prisoners were given only
the basics of human rights, as they were deemed to be the worst kind
of people society had to offer.

wouldnt look this happy if I had to stay in there.
