The John Harvard statue, called the statue of lies because A. John Harvard didn't found the school, the Massachusetts Bay Colony did, he was just a generous donor. B. The school was founded in 1836 not 1838 as inscribed on the pedestal. and C. The statue isn't even of John Harvard because all likenesses of him were lost when the library burned down. It's said to be lucky if you rub the left shoe of the statue. |
