Part One - And so it began...

Year - 2604

The goddess sat upon her throne surrounded by the roses and wildflowers of the 'enchanted forest'.  Legend had it that it was once a horribly frightening place full of bloodhounds and ghouls.  But they had fled and disappeared soon after the goddess took up residence.  Now the forest was a refuge for all peaceful demons and magically inclined individuals.
No one was sure how the goddess came to reside within the forest.  One day she was just there and has remained ever since.  She never moved; she occasionally blinked or gazed in a different direction, but nothing more.

Within the week of the goddess's appearance, the unicorns showed up.  Magnificent beasts of silver and white, they were said to be her guardians and traveled around the forest as they chose.  No one dared to try and stop them or to even touch them for that matter.  So the unicorns were left alone to wander at their will and spread their magicks throughout the forest.  What was once a harsh, dark, dreadful place full of twists and bends along narrow paths hampered by gnarled branches above and below became an enchanted land of peace.  Roses bloomed in even the shadiest of places and grew to sizes never before seen.  Pathways were formed covered with moss and tiny little flowers sprinkled here and there.  There were fields of lavender and vanilla and vineyards of grapes among other things.  The finest wines were produced from those grapes and bottles of such wine became almost priceless.  Deer and wolves, swans and hawks and all of nature's creatures resided within these woods. Ponds of crystal clear water could be found in every dell and glade..  The ponds were the animals' water source and had unbelievable healing properties.  The water is said to be able to cure blindness and many otherwise incurable diseases.  There are consequences for drinking such water.  Only one pure of heart of heart could drink this water and live.  Many had tried, but nearly all were found wanting and suffered horribly slow deaths.  Only a few had been found worthy and often lived beyond their years.  Most became servants for the goddess and attended to her gardens.
The goddess's shrine had grown over all these years.  Her throne that she sat atop was really nothing more than a chunk of a carved pillar such as one would have found in Ancient Greece.  The pillar had many cracks but was held together by vines growing on the forest floor.  White roses formed an arch behind the goddess.  They never changed.  There was a pond a few yards away surrounded by vanilla.  The servants had constructed a small shelter for the unicorns there for they were often seen grazing by the water.  The building was simple yet elegant, done in the same style as the pillar and was ivory in colour with vines creeping along it's surface.  The goddess and the pond were in the center of a maze.  The maze was formed from magical bushes that appeared to always be covered with frost and the paths were covered with a soft layer of snow.  Some nights fat, fluffy snowflakes fell and the unicorns could be seen playing with the servants' children.  Only the servants and select women and children were permitted to touch the unicorns.
The goddess herself was a sight to behold.  At night her skin cast a soft golden glow.  Her hair was like spun gold and flowed down to her knees in a mass of curls.  Though she never aged her hair continued to grow.  She had large green eyes, a soft blush to her cheeks and a gentle mouth that hinted of a smile.  Her expression was one of slightly amused detachment although her eyes often had haunted flashes which would disappear as suddenly as they appeared.  The goddess was clothed in a simple loose white dress that reached her ankles.  She was barefoot.  On a chain around her neck was a ring containing two hands holding a heart with a crown sitting atop it.  It was said to have been a gift from one of her ex-lovers in centuries long past.
She was called by many names de oro sol and caro sole were a few but speaking her true name was forbidden.  No one could ever use her name again, to do so would be disrespectful.  For there was only one true Buffy........
