Sula takes place in a span of over 40 years and follows the lives of two African-American women named Nel and Sula. Nel and Sula grew up in a small town in Ohio called The Bottom. Fate brought them together to be best friends, however, the ups and downs of life will rock their friendship. Throughout their lives they learn about pride, loyalty, betrayal, suffering, but most of all about compassion and forgiveness. Sula is about friendship, the events that make it stronger and the events that can pull it apart.
