Acting Up at the Miners is a newly formed youth theatre organization at the Historic Miners Institute. The goal of Acting Up is to provide an over all theatre experience, not just on stage but "behind the scenes" as well. For each performance, each of our "techies" will have a "shadow" to learn the ropes. You don't have to be on stage to play a part in the show. This troupe will perform 1-2 full scale productions a year with several smaller shows throughout the year. In addition, we will plan several outings as a group that family and friends will be welcome to attend as well. We believe that children can learn so much from being on stage. From learning how to speak in public to staying out of trouble, we try to emphasis these points and many others.
We encourage our parents to get involved as well. There are several parents that act right along with their children. We also have many parents that help out backstage before, during and after the shows. We would like our parents to be a part of the creative process with their children.
