“Let there be light.” These were the first words spoken in our universe, spoken by God Himself. Humans need light to survive. All nourishing energy originally comes from the sunlight. Light causes the plants to grow which produce food which we eat. Even in Godless religions the sun is often an object of worship. Without light humans would quickly die.
Similarly if we stopped receiving and reflecting spiritual light we would die. Spiritual light comes from God ( 1 John 1:5 ). As Christians we receive His light when we become His children. We are also to called to show this light to others. We cannot bring others to Christ unless we show that we are followers of Christ first.
