[...F4 & Me...]
don't get confused over the title. i do not know them personally, nor related to them. still can remember vividly in my mind how i get to know them, how i got crazy over them n the brief yet memorable encounters with these boys...
[ How i first got into contact with F4 ]
Around Nov 2001, i was busy playing neopets online. Then, someone in IRC msged me and asked me to go to this taiwan website. I went, saw this guy on the website. memerised by his good looks, big bambie eyes n grin. took my breath away.. i was like ''wow.. who is this!?!'' found out he's Vic from F4. great, then i started browsing through all the Vic pics. was attracted to him. then, i went to Sony Music Website, found out there's this new band call F4. wasn't attracted to any of them... but kept thinking about vic~
entered #F4 irc channel.. less than 30 people and unregistered. they were talking abt f4 n meteor garden. wanted to buy to watch my vic.. didn't really care about the other 3. told my friends abt them.. only 1 heard abt them! the rest were like ''who r these guys? doesn't look appealing..'' i almost felt the same too. except for vic, the 3 to me were nothing. then through the radio, i heard they were coming to singapore to promote their first album - Meteor Rain. I bought it.
1st encounter...
Went with 2 friends of mine to their autograph + handshaking session. didn't expect to see thousands of people queuing up these this is a new band! luckily, i came 8 hrs before hand. i didn't manage to go on the stage to see them close. however, the wait was worth it. was only standing like metres away. they looked so shy, so bashful. however, vanness caught my attention. he looked 1000 times better in real life..really handsome. Jerry was gorgeous, Vic was damn cute. no feeling towards f4. they spoke very little... but i noticed how sincere vanness n vic were. shaking with both hands.. saying xie xie to the fans. then later, they went on psc nite to sing '' Liu Xing Yu''. Jerry's reaction was cute when he saw the 10kg of rice!
2nd encounter... hooked.
in the hols, my mum brought home this VCD. n guess what it was? METEOR GARDEN. woo... watched the first disc and i was HOOKED. jerry caught my attention this time.. the way he smiled, talked, closed the car door.. n his FENG LI TOU! the incredible dao ming si. became like a mad woman. watched 19 discs in like 3 days? marathon. it was the first time i had this motivation to sit down there to watch n didn't even feel like sleeping. i just wanted to know what's on the next disc. after finished, my love towards them increased... liked jerry more than vic~ but i still can't stand ken!
meteor garden craze. .
soon, almost everyone watched mg1. even my neighbours were talking abt it. it's the mg craze. even formed this meteor garden cast in my class and acted the show out. blamed myself for not watching meteor garden earlier.. other wise by hook or by crook, I will surely go up the stage to shake hands with f4.
At that time, i was no longer crazy over stef. my world just revolved around f4. sounds silly rite. think this is idolism.
BRIEF ENCOUNTERS WiTH THE BOYS...
1) 2001: F4 came to sg for 'Meteor Rain' autograph session cum handshake. will never forget the scene. 4 shy boys on the stage.
2) 2002 Feb: Vic came to promote his make a wish album. went to the airport to see him. he was soo cute.. with those dimples~
3) 2002 May: They came sg for their 1st concert.. With my friends, i went to the airprot to chase. However, it was a false alarm and there were rumours they had already reached in the afternoon. Went to the various hotels but failed.
Then, I heard news that their flight was in the afternoon. went with my friend. saw the crowds n gates at the airport. i knew they were cofirm coming. After 1 hr, we saw them. Vic, Jerry n Ken were walking in the middle of the gates. Vanness walked at the side of the gates.. waving and shaking hands. AND HE SHOOK MY HANDS! wouldn't forget it!! Saw ken.. he looked awful at that time. Vic was very very very cute. I didn't really see jerry's face becoz of the excitement n crowd.
4) 2002 Sept: Vanness came to sg for 'body will sing' promotion. Having some major exams but i didn't care. After all, it's a once in million chance. queued for 9am to 7pm under the hot sun, hungry n tired. however it was worth it. went up the stage and saw him CLOSE UP. his complexion was soo nice and had a charming smile! Seeing that nobody was looking, i touched his hands and he looked up, smiling. The security guards jumped up and pushed me aside. full stop.
5) 2003 March: Went to chase Ken. Ironic? In F4, he's the only member that i have 0 interest in. Wanted to see whether he had changed n after all, he was still part of F4. At the airport, i saw him. Cuter, leaner, more friendly.. changed alot! His hair was nicer also... Not to mention he waved n smiled! Despite the chaos at the airport, i managed to touch his shoulder.
Then, I went to see him at the the mall n queued for 6 hours. the crowd was not as much as vanness n vic's autograph session. The encounter was short.. only 20 mins. But, it changed my impression of him, totally.
6) 13/2/03.: Next, I went for the F4 Fantasy World Tour Concert with my friend. Was like metres away only and could see quite clear. I'll skip the details but it's a day i never forget...the way jerry said 'xie xie' + zaizai's giggles + vanness's dances + ken's voice. Every little thing. Sweet memories. bought his F4 hp pouch, box, chain too
7) 26/11/203: Went to chase Vanness when he comes Singapore for STAR RUNNER promotion. Waited for him at the airport for 3 hours. After that, went to chase him with the fanclub people to his hotel. Thrilling. Exciting. And he waved to us! After that, went to queue at Junction 8 for 9 hours, just to catch a glimpse of him. Though he only stayed there for 10 mins, it was worth it. To see him in real life and what you see him on tv screens are completely different things.Seeing him so worn out by the flying to n flo to countries just for Star Runner. The one day just pass so shortly and he flew to malaysia the next day. Vanness, please be back! Right here waiting :)
I may seem silly to alot of people out there. Why on earth will you do so much things for someone who doesn't know u? And doesn't care about u?
BUT... if only u were in my shoes. u will be able to perceive n understand....

before u condemn f4... watch meteor garden. it MAY or MAY NOT change ur perspective... they just have this CHARM.
I don't know when i will stop loving f4.. but there's one think for sure. I will never regret the money n time spent.. I will always remember F4 - the first band that i am crazy over.
