 This year's top artists

This year wasn’t like any other year. Old artists that we lost track of came back, new artists burst into the music bizz and some of our favorite artists kept on coming strong. However, some artists dissociated themselves from the others by making fresh new songs that were cherished and loved by everyone. These songs became hit songs. It is my duty to pay tribute to those songs that we enjoyed all year long.

First, let’s talk about the old artists. The Terror Squad still managed to make us move until we couldn’t feel our feet with the song “Lean Back”. They also introduced Remy Martin and her banging rhymes. Then there was Usher that introduced that brand new Crunk & B sound with the song “Yeah”. He also became the first R&B artist to sell that many albums in its first week. This album showed a whole new side of him and also a growth lyrically. Where would we be without Lil’ Jon and the East Side Boys? For real, they’re the ones who make those crazy ATL beats that make us say “What?” as loud as we can in  clubs. They also introduced Lil’ Scrappy. Kanye West had a great year. He came in the came with a brand new style that everyone, from rock adepts to rap lovers, enjoyed listening. He first introduced himself with “Through the wire” and since then, he gave us the songs “All falls down”, “Jesus Walk” and so on. Jay Z offered us a masterpiece by making “The Black Album”. Lil’ Flip did his thing with “Game over” and “Sunshine”. Ja Rule came back strong with “R.U.L.E.”. The ladies also did their thing starting with Brandy and the latest “Who is she to you”. Alicia Keys came out with her second album “Diary of Alicia Keys” which is brilliant, as usual. Concrete Rose recently came out. Yes, our girl Ashanti did it again.

Now, new artists came in this year. The one I appreciated the most is Ciara. That girl dance beautifully and can actually sing. She introduced herself with “Goodies” and “1, 2 step”. Beyoncé better watch out because Ciara is going to do mad damages in the music world. The second new artist that marked her place is the young Jojo. This girl has an incredible voice and her latest song, “Baby it’s you”, is just great. It’s nice to know that those young new artists can really sing. Also, The Inc. added a new member to their label, Lloyd.

Destiny’s child came back together and they are still doing big hits such as “Lose my breath” and “Soldier”. Also, Mase came back in the business with Bad Boy records and Fo'Reel entertainment, Nelly's label. He did the song "Breathe, stretch, shake", which is doing really well right now. After all these years, he still has it! To know all about the songs that came out this year, don’t forget to watch BET's Notarized on December 31st starting at 11 a.m..
