Gastroesophageal Reflux
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease(GERD)chronic life long condition. It is a condition in which the liquid of the stomach regurgitates into the esophagus.This liquid can inflame and damage the lining of the esophagus. The liquid that was regergitated is usually filled with acid and pepsin(an enzyme that begins the digestion of proteins). It may also contain bile that has backed up into the stomach from the duodenum(first part of the small intestine which attaches to the stomach).Pepsin and bile may also damage the esophagus.
