As far as I know these
satellite receivers have exactly the same internal hardware but each=
clone
of the same hardware has a different brand name and MODEL ID =
for
each particular brand.
This being the case each of them should be capable of using each ot=
hers
firmware.

Note:- Make sure your hardware matches one of those in the table, y=
ou
must verify that you have a G=
BSAT
2CI0 ( or an exact clone ) with motherboard revision EM200 Rev 4.10
which the
instructions that fol=
low
are based on. Future revisions of
the hardware by
manufacturers may not work with the instructions below .
* =
* Best way to check although it will
probably invalidate your warranty is remove your satellite receiver cover a=
nd
check that the motherboard revision number matches the one in the table. **=
* The instructions that follow in the knowledge that they=
are
only details of the modifications I have performed on my own GBSAT 2CI0
receiver and I am basically giving you an account of what I have tried and =
what
the results were – this document is not intended to be a definitive g=
uide
to GBSAT 2CI0 modification or upgrading.
Only carry out the following instructions if you are enti=
rely
satisfied that you have the knowledge after reading this document to perfor=
m a
firmware or any other type of upgrade or modification to your satellite receiver. You must be aware that you are who=
lly
responsible and liable for any possible damage and modification that may be
caused to your satellite rece=
iver
by following the steps outlined below.
The instructions below have been tested and work with a GBSAT 2CI0 (Motherboard Rev
4.10) only and all recent STA=
RSAT
SRX-200-CI firmwares.
Read over all the instructions carefully be=
fore
doing anything.
You
will need :-
(a)
A NULL modem cable whose pins are wired as follows :-
 =
; 1-1, 2-3, 3-2, 4-6, 5-5, 6-4, 7-8, 8-7, 9-9
(b) Latest version of JSEDIT software for your PC ( this softwa=
re is
used to load the firmware \ channel data \ Softcam.key file) – usually
found at www.satnews.it à Jepssen receivers à software section – have a lo=
ok round
it’ll be there somewhere on the website
(c) A copy of authentic actual GBSAT 2C=
I0
firmware use a firmware with MODEL ID which must match the
current MODEL ID of your receiver – ( found by going into STB Status on your receiver m=
enu)
Depending on the firmware you require you’ll have to look under the
JEPSSEN or EMTECH (EM200) section
at www.satnews.it
&nbs=
p; In
the firmware section the ID refers to MODEL ID and HW means Hardware vers=
ion
– I think your receiver should be HW =3D 200 in order to work
(d) The latest version of the Starsat F=
irmware
( at time of going to press was 12.65 ) also found at www.satnews.it
(e) If you want to “experiment=
221;
with decryption of channels you will need a copy of the latest Softcam.key =
file
– I do not condone their use for the illegal viewing of Pay TV.
Also If
you can connect your sat receiver to your TV (or a TV card on your PC) duri=
ng
firmware upload it helps to see what’s going on.

Best link for firmware updates ( an= d latest JSEDIT software) is a www.satnews.it
Softcam.key files can be found at most of the major satellite
enthusiast / hobbyist sites.
They are
transferred to the receiver using the DATA option on the serial TAB =
à then
click WRITE …….. and follow
onscreen
instructions. You may get an error something about Row not imported –=
it
should still be ok.
( When
all the firmware and softcam.key files are loaded you can check what keys h=
ave
been loaded for all the major encryption providers by going into the main m=
enu
on
the receiver and go to STB settings=
3rd
option main menu usually then press 1234 and a hidden menu will appear
containing key editing / viewing options )
